Ruth Hoyte has been named president of the Downtown Vernon Association for her third term.

Ruth Hoyte has become a staple in downtown Vernon.

The Downtown Vernon Association has re-elected Hoyte, of A.E. Berry Insurance, as president for her third straight year.

“I am honoured that my fellow board members are allowing me the opportunity to serve as the president of our 700-member organization for another year,” said Hoyte.

“Over the next 12 months many major projects and plans will come to fruition downtown which will dramatically change the business environment,” she said. “The DVA will be working diligently to ensure that these changes will lead to a positive legacy for both our members and their customers.”

Hoyte also plans to continue efforts on parking issues downtown.

“Parking downtown will still be a major focal point for us over the next 12 months,” she said. “But we will also be continuing with the DVA’s diverse program of events, promotions and marketing activities to keep downtown Vernon front and centre.”

Joining Hoyte on the DVA executive board for 2011-2012 are: vice president Bob Sattler, Hi-Pro Sportswear, secretary Trevor Henke, Vernon Teach and Learn, and treasurer Alison Campbell, Royal Bank of Canada.

“We have a very talented and motivated group on our board this year and lots of new faces and I look forward to working with them to showcase downtown Vernon as the North Okanagan’s premier place to shop, dine, work and play,” said Hoyte.
