The deadline for witty river signage contest will be pushed back to Sunday, April 10, the Cowichan Lake and River Stewardship Committee decided during their latest monthly meeting, last week.
It’s hoped that the pushing back of the deadline will result in more submissions from the public.
The contest revolves around displaying the word “Respect” on the Cowichan River.
Aimed at alerting tubers as to the rules and regulations surrounding the waterway, each letter of respect spells out a suggestion for tubers.
One well-received submission the stewards have received so far for the letter S has been “Sober up and drink reshponsipally.”
One submission for the letter T has been “There’s no ‘p’ in the river. Let’s keep it that way!”
Prizes will be awarded to each of the seven people who select the winning slogans.
Submissions can be made online, at www.cowichan-lake-stewards.ca.
They can also be made by mail, at Box 907, Lake Cowichan BC, V0R2G0.
Members of the Cowichan Lake and River Stewardship Committee will judge the submissions during their Thursday, April 14, meeting.
In other stewardship news, a membership drive will take place some time before this summer’s Annual General Meeting.
