IF YOU’RE heading to Dease Lake or in that area, the ministry of transportation advises that the road has been closed.
Highway 37, 12 kilometres north of the Dease River Bridge, (80 kilometres north of Dease Lake), is closed in both directions due to flooding caused by the high water level in the Dease River, reported the ministry in a press release early this afternoon.
No detours are available. The alternate route is Highway 97 (the Alaska Highway), said the release.
Highway message signs have been set up at both ends of Highway 37, at the Yukon Border, Kitwanga and Prince George to inform travellers as conditions change, continued the release.
There is no estimated time for the road re-opening, the ministry said.
Ministry staff will continue to monitor the situation closely, and crews and equipment are on site to ensure public safety, said the release.
