Castlegar drivers prefer Toyotas and Hondas, according to stats recently released by ICBC.

The cars you are most likely to see driving around town are Toyota Corollas, Honda Civics and Honda CR-Vs.

In 2019, there were 4,543 vehicles registered in Castlegar. The most popular make was Toyota with 746, followed by Honda with 651. There were 447 Hyundais, 419 Fords, 315 Chevrolets, 197 Subarus and 185 Jeeps.

On the less popular, but interesting, front there were five Smart Cars, four Teslas, three Hummers, two Jaguars, two Porsches, one Studebaker and one Triumph. The oldest car was from 1927.

The most popular body styles were four-door station wagons followed by four-door sedans, hatchbacks and two-door coupes.

The most popular model year was 2007, followed by 2017, 2014, 2013 and 2016. But there were 20 people driving around brand new 2020 models and 181 people driving 2019 models.

As far as eco-friendly vehicles, there were only 10 electric vehicles and 59 hybrid vehicles.

The most popular vehicles in Rossland were the Subaru Outback and Subaru Forester. Trail’s top vehicles were the Ford Escape and Toyota Corrolla. Nelson drivers prefer the Toyota Rav-4 4WD and Honda CR-V AWD.
