Members of the RCMP continue to investigate a murder after a body was found inside a vehicle parked in a church parking lot at Haney Presbyterian Church, on 216th Street early Saturday morning.

Members of the RCMP continue to investigate a murder after a body was found inside a vehicle parked in a church parking lot at Haney Presbyterian Church, on 216th Street early Saturday morning.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team was called to Maple Ridge early Saturday after the body of a 33-year-old Pitt Meadows man was found inside a vehicle in a church parking lot.

Ridge Meadows RCMP arrived first at Haney Presbyterian Church, on 216th Street just off Lougheed Highway, overnight and cordoned off the parking lot and closed part of the road.

IHIT investigators continue to move forward with possible leads into the death of the man found in a vehicle just after 4 a.m. on Saturday.

The victim is not known to police and there is no indication this matter has any connection to other criminal acts in any jurisdiction, according to IHIT.

“To protect the integrity of this investigation, few details are being released. However, investigators believe there is no risk to the public.”
