Northern Health announced 22 community partners across the Northern Interior region were awarded 2011 IMAGINE grants to help improve the health and wellbeing of those living, working, learning and playing in their respective communities.
And two Gold Pan organizations are benefiting: Quesnel Millionaires Jr. A Hockey Club for their school visits and the North Cariboo Agricultural Marketing Association for Framed.
Grants from NH’s Healthy Eating, Active Living (HEAL) program, Heal for Your Heart, Injury Prevention, RoadHealth and Healthy Minds, Healthy Youth provide financial support for the work of community organizations.
“The combined investments of community energy, commitments and resources, along with Northern Health’s financial and in-kind partnership supports, can realize lasting improvements to the health and well-being of people in northern BC,” NH director of population health, Julie Kerr said.
Wells also made the list with funding for their Apples of the Earth program at the Wells Community Garden.

• Wildlife Collision Prevention Program Public Awareness Campaign (Road Health)
• Prince George Brain Injured Group – Ride-Safe: Bikes, Boards and Vehicles (Road Health)
• Prince George Safe Attitudes and Actions Society – P.A.R.T.Y. Program – P.A.R.T.Y. Prevent Alcohol and Risk-Related Trauma in Youth (Road Health)
• University of Northern British Columbia – Using Northern Health Buses to Identify Wildlife Car Collision Hotspots (Road Health)
• RCMP – North District Traffic Services, Rollover Simulator Project (Road Health)
