SURREY —The incident that led to North Surrey Secondary being locked down Thursday afternoon began with an argument.
Police say two men who knew each other were arguing when one believed he saw the other carrying a gun and called the cops around 3 p.m. This happened in the 9700-block of 160th Street and caused traffic closures while police were on scene.
Surrey RCMP responded and detained everyone inside the house until they could determine who was who, and what involvement they had, if any. All have been released and the incident ended “peacefully,” according to a release.
“Turns out the suspect had fled prior to police attendance although we did not know that at the time,” said Cpl. Scotty Schumann. “Our investigation has been sent to crown who will consider what charges if any are appropriate.”

Schumann said patrol officers, the Emergency Response Team, Surrey Gang Enforcement, School Resource Officer and Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit BC all surrounded the residence.
The high school lockdown was lifted at 4:45 p.m., police say.
