A female corrections officer at Kent Institution was reportedly slashed across the face by an inmate Saturday.
Kent officials were not available Monday to confirm the report, but the institution issued a press release about an “inmate assault on a correctional officer.”
The maximum-security prison near Agassiz was locked down as a result of the 2 p.m. assault and all prisoner visits suspended until further notice.
The Saturday incident reportedly follows an earlier attack on Thursday when a male officer was stabbed in the chest, but a protective vest saved him from serious injury.
