The Terrace RCMP responded to approximately 73 calls for service from January 2nd, 8 AM till January 5th, 8 AM. During the same time period nine people were lodged in Terrace Cells. Five of these people were lodged for intoxication.
Here are some of the calls responded to:
- A blue 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier was pulled over on Hwy 16 near Kalum Lake Dr after it was reported as being driven in an erratic manner between Prince Rupert and Terrace on Hwy 16. The 33 yr old driver provided a sample of breath in to a roadside screening device that resulted in a fail. He was served an Immediate Roadside Prohibition and the vehicle he was driving was impounded. Checks determined that he was prohibited from driving already. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.
- The door of a 2000 Honda Civic was pried open while it was parked outside of a residence on the 4400 block of Legion Ave during the night of December 31/January 1st. Items stolen were two Burton AK jackets, one black with a blue zipper and one red, a couple of hunting knives, a machete, a butcher knife set, an IPod and charger, and some gasoline. The tires of the car were deflated as well.
- An intoxicated 18 yr old boy was jumped while walking home from a party on Scott Ave on the morning of January 1st. His black IPhone 4 was stolen from his backpack.
- A pedestrian was struck by a black 2013 Dodge Caravan in the crosswalk at the Sande Overpass/Keith Ave. The pedestrian sustained minor injuries.
- An intoxicated 20 yr old man was refused service at the Northern Motor Inn. He broke a window on his exit and was refusing to leave the lobby. He was belligerent to staff. Police observed the man yelling at staff and he was arrested. He is banned from the business.
- A white Ford F350 parked on Substation Rd had all of the windows smashed out of it sometime during the night of January 2/3.
- Suicidal 52 yr old man. Police apprehended the man under the Mental Health Act and transported him to Mills Memorial Hospital for assessment.
- A grey 2004 GMC Sierra truck and a grey 2013 GMC Sierra truck collided at the intersection of Park Ave/Kalum St. No injuries.
- A red 2004 Ford truck was pulled over on Keith Ave/Tetrault St. The 42 yr old driver provided two samples of breath that were more than double the legal limit. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.
- A grey 2004 Chevrolet Silverado was pulled over at Clark St/Hwy 16 east. The driver did not have a driver’s licence and had a warrant for his arrest for driving while prohibited. The 21 yr old man was arrested and held for court.
- Fight at the Northern. Police found a man lying on the ground suffering from injuries to the head. He was transported to Mills Memorial Hospital. Investigation determined that a consensual fight turned to an assault with a foot stomp to the head. Under investigation.
- Assist BC Ambulance with a man who sustained injury from a self-inflicted knife wound. The 38 yr old man was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and transported to Mills Memorial Hospital for assessment.
- Sexual assault investigation.
- Domestic assault. A window was broken. A hammer involved was seized. A woman sustained injuries and was transported to Mills Memorial Hospital. A man was in breach of a conditional discharge condition of leaving a person’s presence when requested to do so. The 33 yr old man was arrested. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.
- The locks of a white 2001 Ford F250 were jimmied while it was parked on Sunset Dr during the night of January 3rd/4th. Access to the vehicle was not gained.
- The lock of a white 2002 Ford F250 parked on Sunset Dr was punched out and the ignition tampered with in an attempt to steal the vehicle sometime during the night of January 3rd/4th.
- A shoplifter stolen 7 or 8 adult magazines from a business on Lakelse Ave on January 5th at 1:11 AM.
- A man attended to the detachment to speak with police. He displayed signs of paranoia and was delusional. The 33 yr old man was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and transported to Mills Memorial Hospital.
