Cherryville business expands

A long-time Cherryville business is growing.

The Regional District of North Okanagan has approved a development permit for the Gold Panner Campground.

Director Hank Cameron says there are new owners at the campground and they are looking at expanding operations.

“They want to build two cabins right now. We welcome them to the neighbourhood,” he said.

As part of the development permits, requirements for paved parking and loading areas have been waived.

Getting ready for UBCM

Local politicians want to be strategic when they meet their provincial counterparts.

The Regional District of North Okanagan is preparing to send delegates to the Union of B.C. Municipalities convention in Victoria Sept. 26 to 30.

“We want to take a common approach with the ministers so we can promote our initiatives,” said Rick Fairbairn, board chairperson.

“It’s important to influence the decision makers.”

Beyond RDNO, each of the six member municipalities will also send representatives to the convention.
