Island Health has announced an additional COVID-19 vaccination clinic for the Comox Valley.
On Wednesday, July 7, Island Health sent out a statement advising it has opened a clinic at the regional BC Assessment Authority office at 2488 Idiens Way in Courtenay.
This is in addition to the Florence Filberg Centre location, which opened July 1.
The moves were necessitated after the original mass vaccination clinic at Glacier Gardens in Comox had to shut down due to severe heat in the building, during the intense heatwave at the end of June.
According to the statement, “people with previously booked appointments at Glacier Gardens up to July 18 should go to the Filberg Centre, even if they get a text or email reminder directing them to Glacier Gardens. Island Health is in the process of contacting people whose appointments were cancelled due to last week’s extreme heat-related clinic closures and have not yet re-booked. If you have not received a call and would like to reschedule, please call 1-833-838-2323 to book in.
“Island Health is also aware that some people were recently not able to book appointments at a clinic in the Comox Valley online or over the phone. These issues have been resolved. Anyone who was unable to book is encouraged to try again and people who booked at a clinic in another community can re-book into a Comox Valley clinic.”
