Island Health is seeking a new executive director to oversee a region that spans Nanaimo, Oceanside and the West Coast.
The health authority has confirmed Suzanne Fox, executive director of Geography 2, has left the health authority and it’ll begin a recruitment process shortly to fill the position on a permanent basis.
In an e-mail statement, it said it could not comment further on personnel matters.
In 2015, Island Health announced a new health-care structure aimed at increasing local planning and decision making. The health authority would be carved into four regions with new local leadership teams and Fox was named to Geography 2, which encompasses Nanaimo, Oceanside, Port Alberni, Clayoquot and the Island-wide renal and trauma program.
She was also initially responsible for IHealth, the electronic record system currently under review by the province.
“Several months ago, as planned in advance, a change was made where the individual would focus solely on their role of executive director for the geographic region,” Island Health stated. “At that time, with the planned continued activation of IHealth at other locations across Island Health outside of the Nanaimo area, leadership of IHealth evolved to a different approach.”
