SAFETY AND food were the order of the day yesterday afternoon at the Skeena Mall parking lot.

A bike rodeo sponosred by the RCMP was held to instruct younger riders in all aspects of how to bicycle in a responsible and safe manner.

And a barbecue put on the local Bike to Work committee helped mark the end of a successful Bike to Work Week.

By week’s end, 31 teams had registered to take part in the Bike to Work Week, far more than last year and something which made organizers happy.

Bike to Work Week is a growing event across the province designed to take people out of their vehicles and put them on bicycles.

Organizers here stressed the physical, psychological and financial benefits of cycling.
