Barriere and area residents will be turning out to the polls November 19, to cast their votes for local government and school district elections. Nominations closed on Oct. 14 for those wishing to let their names stand.
Incumbent Mike Fennell, and candidate Bill Humphreys will be on the ballot for District of Barriere Mayor. Incumbent councillors Pat Paula, Virginia Smith, Ward, Stamer, and Glen Stanley, have been joined by candidates Kathy Campbell, Bill Kershaw, Doug McGregor, and Amanda Sabyan, to be considered for the six position on District of Barriere council.
Incumbent Joanne Stokes and candidate Rhonda Kershaw are vying for the position of Kamloops/Thompson School District Trustee for Barriere and area. Incumbent Bonnie CruzelleMyram was not challenged for the position of Area ‘O’ Director for the Thompson Nicola Regional District, and Area ‘P’ Director John Sternig was also unchallenged.
Voters are encouraged over the next few weeks to get to know the candidates, attend the All Candidates Forum on Nov. 3, 7 p.m. at the Lion’s Hall in Barriere, and to mark your calendars for voting day, Nov. 19, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., at the Ridge (Municipal Hall) in the Multi Purpose Room.
