A Quesnel man has been sentenced to 15 months in jail and one year probation for his role in a crash that killed mother-of-two, Cindy Louise Thomas.
Jordan Wayne Garvin, 24, was convicted of dangerous driving causing death and dangerous driving causing bodily harm relating to a fatal 2012 crash in West Kelowna.
Thomas, 46, died the evening of March 3, 2012, when the Pontiac Bonneville that she was a passenger in was hit by Garvin’s Lexus SC40. The Lexus hit the Pontiac as it took a left turn onto Ross Road from Highway 97, while travelling at 160 km/hr.
The crash is believed to have instantly killed Thomas, while Garvin and driver of the Pontiac, Scott Preston, were sent to the Intensive Care Unit of Kelowna General Hospital to be treated for severe injuries.
Garvin is also prohibited from driving for two years.
