Jerseys targeted in smash and grab

“Investigators have since secured surveillance footage from the alleged break in. Our hope is that the public may recognize our suspect from their clothing and come forward with tip information.”

Pricy signed NHL jerseys were targeted ine a smash and grab early this morning in Kelowna.

On May 4 at 2:51 a.m., the Kelowna RCMP responded to a commercial alarm at Rusty’s Sports Bar and Grill on the 1500 block of Dilworth Drive.

Police arrived on scene to discover a west door of the restaurant smashed out, and obvious entry made into the building.

Once inside, Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says it’s alleged that the suspect further smashed the wall display cases holding as many as nine signed NHL jerseys, which were taken from the building.

The thief also unsuccessfully targeted a lotto terminal inside the bar area of the business.

“General duty officers responded to the scene, a perimeter was established in the area and Police Service Dog (PSD) Ice conducted a search for the suspect, with negative results,” says O’Donaghey.

“Investigators have since secured surveillance footage from the alleged break in. Our hope is that the public may recognize our suspect from their clothing and come forward with tip information,” he adds.

The suspect was seen, in security footage, with his face covered, wearing blue jeans, a black jacket with white markings, a blue scarf and a pair of blue, black and white sneakers.
