Traffic was once again flowing in both directions across the Johnston Bridge on July 15.
Southbound traffic had been prevented from travelling across the bridge due to water from the Quesnel River flooding a low-lying area of the Johnston Bridge Loop.
The City of Quesnel made the announcement on Facebook, noting the bridge still has a weight limit of 10,000 kgs, and industrial and heavy traffic must detour around the Johnston Subdivision.
The Johnston Bridge is set for reconstruction. Earlier this year Quesnel council approved a further estimate on how much repairs will cost. An initial estimate of a comprehensive repair, including replacing the bearings, was set at over $2 million, extending the life of the bridge by 15 years.
