Vanderhoof’s local RCMP detachment lodged 114 files, which included 14 prisoners, in the past week.
Residential burglaries continue
A steady number of thefts, between three to seven per week, took place at various locations in downtown and rural Vanderhoof over the past month.
The police advises residents to help deter thieves by keeping property in secured locations, whether it be ensuring car doors are locked or storing big-ticket items away from prying eyes.
Prompt reporting
Those who spot something suspicious are urged to call the RCMP right away, in order for officers to respond and assist immediately.
“We can’t be everywhere,” Sgt. Svend Nielsen said. “We depend on people to call and phone in to help with the community.”
Church break-in round two
On July 14, food and electronic items are found lost from Mapes Baptist Church after a break-and-enter overnight.
Investigation continues with physical evidence collected by the RCMP’s Prince George-based forensics team.
Spied and caught
On July 9, a man was seen by a neighbour to forcefully enter and remove items from a residence on Victoria Street.
Arrested by responding officers on site, the man is found to be on the RCMP’s list of prolific offenders. As he is suspected of other property crime, he remains in custody in Prince George,
He is known by the home’s residents.
