At noon today, Accelerate Okanagan organized an (un)flash mob in support of the Okanagan Centre for Innovation project.
Organizers wanted to rally the community to show some sort of support for the project, which will become a hub of high-tech entrepreneurs and creative idea development in Kelowna.
The innovation centre will be located at the corner of Doyle and Ellis next to the downtown Kelowna branch of the Okanagan Regional Library.
Andrew Greer, program manager and interim operations manager for Accelerate Okanagan, asked stakeholders to bring their bag lunches and eat on the grass where the new centre will be built.
“We purposely didn’t create a sign up page because we wanted it to be grassroots,” Greer said of the gathering.
To mark the occasion, Greer gathered those close to 50 people who participated to form the letters O C and I, and then to jump in the air as they were photographed by an aerial camera.
