Four junior chefs from across the country are on a culinary exchange in the Okanagan for two weeks, sponsored by Saputo, to give them an opportunity to explore a different culinary region of the country.

While here, they will work with local chefs Rod Butters, Willi Franz, Bernard Casavant and Jesse Croy, members of the Okanagan Chefs’ Association.

Here, Melanie Robinson from Orillia, Ontario, (front) helps out sous chef Evelynn Takoff of RauDZ Regional Table, along with Candice Economakos from Toronto at the Okanagan Feast of Fields event. The other two visitors are Kimberley Knourek from Regina, Saskatchewan and Ryan Baker from Lethbridge Alberta.

While here, they will visit such local restaurants as Mission Hill’s Terrace Restaurant and Quail’s Gate’s Old Vines Restaurant, along with Carmelis Goat Cheese and North Okanagan Game Meats.

Deanna Hodge, vice-president of the Okanagan Chefs’ Association says, “We are very excited to be chosen to be the pilot project for this exchange. Prince Edward Island will be hosting the junior exchange next year.”

The exchange is organized by the Canadian Culinary Federation and it’s open to all junior members.
