A cop on traffic duty made a sizable drug bust Monday.
On Dec. 3, a member of the Central Okanagan Traffic Services received a tip from another RCMP officer about a prohibited driver heading northbound on Harvey Avenue.
“Police located the black Ford F150 turning onto Highway 33 and confirmed that the registered owner was in fact prohibited from driving,” said Cst. Kris Clark in a statement released Tuesday morning.
The officer initiated a traffic stop in the Wendy’s parking lot on Highway 33, but found more than he bargained for when he smelled marihuana coming from the cab of the truck.
A 25 year old man and a 32 year old man, both from Trail, were arrested for possession of a controlled substance and the vehicle was searched.
The search revealed 7.3 pounds of marihuana and more than $7000 in cash.
The vehicle was impounded, and police seized the cash and drugs.
The owner of the vehicle, the 25 year old man, faces possible charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking and Driving While Prohibited. He has been released for Court at a later date.
It is unknown at this time if charges will be recommended against the second man.
