There may be an answer to the long lamented question of how to get youth engaged in municipal politics.

Kelowna Coun. Colin Basran told his fellow politicians Monday, one way forward could be related to an idea he “fell in love”  during the revert Federation of Canadian Municipalities meeting.

“(One way) to get youth engaged in community politics is to hold a council meeting at a local high school, during school hours,” he said.

“Show them what we do, how the decisions we make change their lives.”

Although the idea is just in the musings stage of the political process, Basran said he intends to bring it to council in the future.
