A Kelowna man faces traffic charges in relation to the death of Gemma Snowball at the intersection of Sixth and Sixth in New Westminster last March.
Ryan Follack, 29, has been charged with Motor Vehicle Act offenses of driving without due care and driving without reasonable consideration.
The charges were approved by Crown counsel on Friday (Feb. 21).
Snowball, 25, was heading home from work at Royal City Centre Safeway on March 11, 2013, when she was hit by a vehicle as she was walking across the intersection of Sixth Avenue and Sixth Street at about 10:30 p.m.
She was taken to Royal Columbian Hospital but died two days later, with her family donating her organs for transplant.
Last year, Snowball’s mother expressed frustration with the lack of information, and the delay of having any charges laid in this case.
“At the moment Gemma’s family is in limbo—we do not have the full details of how and why she died—we know the basics but that is all,” said Margaret in an email to the NewsLeader, the sister newspaper of the Capital News.
The first scheduled court appearance for Follack is scheduled for March 26 in New Westminster.
