Kelowna man facing armed assault charge

Kelowna RCMP arrest 29-year-old Kelowna man in downtown core after assault complaint was filed by Rutland resident.

A male suspect has been arrested in connection with an alleged assault with a weapon of a woman inside a Rutland residence on Tuesday morning.

Derrick Kurtis Antoine, 29, of Kelowna has now been charged with assault with a weapon and fail to comply with a recognizance.

An assault was reported to Kelowna RCMP at 5:51 a.m. at a residence in the 400 block of Franklyn Road.

Later that day at 10:18 p.m., a Kelowna Mountie apprehended the suspect in the area of Water Street and Queensway Avenue in Kelowna’s downtown core.

Police say Antoine was taken into police custody without incident and expected to make an initial court appearance today.
