A Kelowna gangster with a lengthy criminal history will be relocated to a prison cell for the next few years.
Vincent Lewis Timpany, 42, was sentenced to four years in prison, with a mandatory three year minimum sentence, April 1 after pleading guilty to five of 16 offences, including possession of a restricted firearm for which he was prohibited.
Timpany was arrested December 2013, after members of the CFSEU-BC’s Southeast District office executed a search warrant on Timpany’s residence in the 500 block of Yates Road.
Of the items in Timpany’s possession were:
• 9mm Glock handgun
• .38 calibre Smith and Wesson handgun
• 12 gauge shotgun
• three over-capacity magazines
“Timpany is a long-time gang associate and allied with members of the Independent Soldiers gang,” said Sergeant Lindsey Houghton, spokesperson for CFSEU-BC.
“Timpany has a lengthy criminal record dating back to the early 1990s for property, driving, drug, violence, and firearms-related offenses. At the time of his arrest he was prohibited from possessing guns and ammunition.”
All in all, Houghton described Timpany’s sentence as a win for law enfacement.
“It is important to get offenders, such as Vincent Timpany, off our streets. CFSEU-BC has dedicated itself to reducing threats to public safety, and the successful conclusion of this case only reiterates that the police in British Columbia are making significant headway in eliminating the violence and threat posed by organized crime groups and their associates,” he said.
