A wanted fugitive, who had 36 outstanding warrants for his arrest, was taken into custody by Kelowna RCMP Tuesday night.

After receiving a tip, members of the Kelowna RCMP Street Enforcement Teams found the 36-year-old Edmonton man at a local campground shortly after 9 p.m.

He was taken into custody without incident and held for court the following day.

The 36 warrants were out of both B.C. and Alberta, mostly regarding break and enter-related offences.

Kelowna RCMP Const. Kris Clark said there were no charges laid in Kelowna; however, Mounties suspect the individual likely committed offences here.

“We suspect that he was likely here at least for a few weeks, (but) I don’t have a timeline,” said Clark.

“Individuals such as this continue to be the focus for the Kelowna Regional RCMP, who is concentrating its efforts through intelligence-led, research-based policing—targeting prolific offenders to reduce crime in our community.”
