A firearms related incident in Vernon earlier today led to the arrest of three suspects in Kelowna.
The arrests were made after a vehicle was pulled over by police on Glenmore Road at 11:49 a.m.
The vehicle and its occupants were believed to be involved in what police are calling a “firearms related incident” which occurred in Vernon at 11:10 a.m.
Kelowna RCMP located the suspect vehicle, a green Chevrolet Cavalier, near the intersection of Highway 97 and Mills Road in Kelowna. Plainclothes officers followed the vehicle in Kelowna until it was pulled over in the 1000-block of Glenmore Road.
Assisting in the arrests were the Kelowna RCMP street enforcement team, general duty patrol officers, and the RCMP helicopter and police dog services.
The suspects were identified as a 34-year-old Vernon man, a 23-year-old Surrey man and a 28-year-old Toronto woman.
All three were arrested for possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and remain in police custody.
The police investigation is ongoing.
