Kelowna RCMP superintendent retires

Kelowna Supt. Bill McKinnon announced his retirement this week after 38 years of service as a member of the RCMP.

Kelowna RCMP Supt. Bill McKinnon is calling it quits.The top cop announced his retirement this week after 38 years of service as a member of the RCMP.

In an internal letter, McKinnon thanked the staff at the Kelowna RCMP detachment for their service, support and friendship over the past 12 years that he has been their commander.

He acknowledged the growth and change both the city and the detachment has experienced during that time.

“I can honestly say the highlight of my career was being appointed as the detachment commander in May, 2004,” McKinnon said in a release.

His last day of work will be Thursday, March 28.
