Kelowna SPCA opens news facility

The new barn is located beside the existing shelter, and will house rescued horses and farm animals.

The Kelowna SPCA unveiled it’s newest facility on Wednesday.

The SPCA opened a Recovery and Adoption Barn for abused horses and farm animals adjacent to the existing shelter on Carsorso Road.  The barn is part of the BC SPCA’s eight-year, $50-million capital plan to replace or refurbish 10 facilities across BC.  That fund has since been assisted by the provincial government, who donated a further $5-million towards the project.

The facility announcement was made by BC SPCA chief executive officer Craig Daniell, who said the $250,000 facility would not have been possible without the donation from the province, as $100,000 of the $5-million was put towards the new barn.
