Kelowna teens bake for Gospel Mission

A Kelowna student and her friends gave back to Kelowna's most vulnerable people

A Kelowna area teen and her friends have jumped into the Christmas spirit and provided some sweets to some of the area’s most vulnerable residents.

Jesse Reid, 14, and high school friends Isabella Lauren and Bella Lees, both 13, whipped up some 200 cookies and delivered them to the Kelowna Gospel Mission this week to help those less fortunate souls who rely on the mission for food and shelter.

A new arrival to Kelowna with her family, Reid’s mom Richelle said it was a way to get involved in the community for Jesse after the family relocated to Kelowna from Saskatoon.

“We were trying to connect with our new community,” said Richelle. “Everyone was so thankful and dropping off the cookies with Jesse allowed her to see how excited the staff and residents were to have a home baked treat. The girls had a blast.”

The trio are students at Constable Neil Bruce school in Kelowna.

As for the cookies, they were oatmeal, peanut butter and chocolate chip.

There are many examples of the community stepping forward to help people in downtown Kelowna.
