Kelowna’s Gospel Mission plans on serving 800 meals on Thanksgiving Day.

Kelowna Mayor Colin Basran, local  MLAs Steve Thomson and  Norm Letnick are among the over 50 volunteers who will serve the meals.

The homeless and people in need will be able to enjoy a delicious, traditional Thanksgiving meal of turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, vegetables, cranberry sauce, rolls and pie.

This year former guest of the shelter, Gordon Siemens, will present a poem he wrote to honour Gospel Mission outreach worker JoAnne before the meal.

Randy Benson, executive director of Kelowna’s Gospel Mission, said, “We are so thankful for the outpouring of generosity from the Okanagan Community. It is encouraging to see former guests of our Shelter give back. Gordon is a special man who has overcome hardship and we’re honoured to have him present his poem.”
