Cam and Courtney Egan couldn’t have conceived of a better way to ring in the new year.

The Kelowna couple welcomed the city’s first baby of 2017—a son—to the world at 5:21 p.m. on Jan. 1 at Kelowna General Hopsital.

The Egans’ first child, Lachlan Oslo, weighed in at eight pounds three ounces.

“It’s a really nice way to start the year,” Courtney said by phone while feeding her son on Monday morning at KGH.

“Everybody is doing great, Lachlan is fine, Cam is just over the moon…we’re really happy.”

Lachlan was due on New Year’s Eve, but his dad had a hunch his son might be a day or so late.

“Cam won his office pool at work, he guessed the baby would come New Year’s day,” Courtney said with a laugh. “I didn’t think it would be January 1st, but I’m sure happy it is.”

In addition to being the couple’s first child, Lachlan is also the first grandchild on both sides of the family.

Cam’s parents live in Coldstream, while Courtney’s are in West Kelowna.
