Censored: An Okanagan Facebook protest

Kelowna’s top five must reads

An evening wrap up of the most important stories to hit the web in Kelowna today.

1) If you thought today was cold, it’s about to get worse. Old man winter has a tight grip on the entire province with temperatures in the Okanagan and Shuswap hitting negative double digits this week. Environment Canada says overnight lows will hit -14 C by Wednesday night.

2) It is has been more than five years since Jonathan Bacon was gunned down in downtown Kelowna. Those accused in the shooting have now chosen to opt out of a jury trial and will face a B.C. Supreme Court judge at the trial next year.

3) A group of Okanagan women bared it all in a photo shoot to protest Facebook’s censorship policies. Thirty-two local women stripped down, taped up and showed fearlessness in front of 24-year-old Trina Cary’s lens.

4) Nicolas Cage was spotted once again in the Okanagan. This time he was on a plane flying from Vancouver to Kelowna. The surprising part – he was flying coach.

5) A Salmon Arm couple is taking equality to the next level. The married couple is combining their last names to create a new moniker for the both of them to share.
