Donna Austin photographed this scene on River Road last week. She writes: “It was a pleasure to watch a bit of the Old West on Tuesday, November 6, when a large herd of cattle were moved from their mountain summer grazing to their winter grounds. They were to be gathered at a ranch next to the rodeo grounds in Keremeos, and were driven down River Road at around 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday morning. I was able to take some photos as they passed by. I don’t have the names of the two riders at the head of the herd or the others at the rear of the herd except that the rider on the white horse with the oil slicker is Dwayne Trelenberg. It is such a joy to live in this wonderful valley where scenes like this occur as part of daily life. I would never want to live in any city again.”
