Keremeos RCMP answered 359 calls for service in the first quarter of 2014, up 30 per cent from a year ago.
Break and enters were up 200 per cent over last year, totalling 18 for the period.
Assaults, theft from vehicles, mischief and disturbance calls were also up significantly over the same period last year.
Drug charges (1) and impaired driving charges (2) were a couple of bright spots for the RCMP during the quarter.
No chronic offenders were identified in the Keremeos detachment area during the first quarter.
Crme Stoppers received five tips in Keremeos and area during the first three months of 2014.
The Keremeos detachment engages in an inter-agency approach when focusing on prolific and priority offenders within the detachment boundaries. The detachment maintains a prolific offender file listing all offenders with conditions. Curfew checks are conducted on a regular basis and crime analyst reports are used to target high crime areas.
Currently, Keremeos RCMP are in the process of implementing a loitering bylaw to address residents and business concerns with regards to seasonal workers.
