Kimberley City Council adopted the Inter-Community Mobile Business License Bylaw this week.
The bylaw allows businesses who operate in both Kimberley and Cranbrook to purchase a special business license rather than purchasing a Cranbrook license to operate in Cranbrook and a Kimberley business license to operate in Kimberley.
“We have about 90 Kimberley business licenses that are actually businesses from Cranbrook,” Mayor Don McCormick said. “There are a lot of businesses doing business back and forth. This just makes sense and it costs a little less for businesses.
An Inter-Community Business License is an add-on to a municipal business license that allows mobile businesses to operate across participating municipalities. This includes, but is not limited to trades, plumbers, electricians, cleaning services, pest control and similar businesses.
Cranbrook Council has also adopted an inter-community business license bylaw.
