Kimberley RCMP and their partners in High River, Alberta continued their search for a missing man Tuesday.

On February 9, 2015 the High River RCMP were made aware of a missing 67 year old male from Kimberley. Ernest Davis left a residence in High River at approximately 2 p.m. on February 8, 2015, to travel back to his residence in Kimberley.

Davis was driving a red Dodge Caravan with British Columbia License Plate number 588NVM. It was believed that Davis would be travelling through Crowsnest Pass. Davis has not been heard of since departure from High River.

Kimberley RCMP Cpl. Chris Newel said that he was ramping up the search on Tuesday morning.

“The call did go into High River first but the family resides here in Kimberley,” Newel said. “It’s always better that the family have a contact here that they can talk to in person, so we are taking a more active role.”

The vehicles plates have been entered into police computers so if it is checked anywhere in Canada it would be flagged, Newel said. All hospitals have been contacted as well, with no results.

Newel was getting an EMBC civil air search and rescue aircraft flying on Tuesday morning.

“The aircraft will search our highways to the Alberta border,” he said.

Newel says that Davis’s family has confirmed that there are no major medical issues that may have prevented him from reaching home, so the best theory is that the car may have been involved in an accident and gone off the road.

“We have had situations like that in the province before,” he said. “In this case the vehicle is red so that may give us a better chance of spotting it.”

If you have information, or may have seen the vehicle,  please call the High River RCMP at (403) 652-2357 or Kimberly RCMP at (250) 427-4811.
