The annual ShakeOut BC event will be taking place on Oct. 15 and the District of Kitimat is urging Kitimat residents to participate.

The event is held to raise awareness to potential earthquake hazards in the area and how to deal with them. The event takes place Thursday (Oct. 15) at 10:15 a.m., but ShakeOut BC said to hold events within social bubbles and on your own time, amidst COVID-19 protocols.

The District is also using this as an opportunity to test the Emergency Alert System. They will be sending a RapidNotify message out at this time, to both create awareness of the event and test their alert system.

Visit the ShakeOut BC website for more information on the event, and visit the District of Kitimat website to sign up for emergency alerts.
