It was slow going on all roads leading west out of Chilliwack following accidents on Highway 1 near the Vedder Canal and Prest Road Monday afternoon.
Heavy Labour Day traffic choked the side roads as motorists attempted to find alternate routes at around 3 p.m..
In some places, traffic was at a standstill as frustrated drivers struggled to get home from popular destinations like Cultus Lake.
Keith Wilson Road was backed up all the way from Lickman Road to No. 3 Road at Highway 1.
Highway 1 westbound, meanwhile, was backed up to Evans Road.
