Ladysmith Legion pitches in for Nanaimo veteran Trevor Greene

Local Legion pitches in $3,000 to help purchase a robotic exoskeleton for disabled Canadian Forces veteran Trevor Greene.

The Ladysmith Legion has raised $3000 in recent weeks to help purchase a robotic exoskeleton for Nanaimo Canadian Forces veteran Trevor Greene.

Greene was attacked while serving in Afghanistan and the resulting brain injury he suffered has left him largely paralyzed, past Legion president Brian Kelly said.

To help restore Greene’s lost mobility, the Royal Canadian Legion’s BC/Yukon Command (RCL-BC/Y) is attempting to purchase a robotic exoskeleton from a California-based technology company. According to the RCL-BC/Y website they’ve raised close to $27,000 to date — one quarter of their final $100,000 goal.

The Ladysmith Legion raised its contribution to the fund by hosting a fundraising dinner May 4, through donations from patrons, and by reassigning $2,000 from their poppy, Legion secretary Allyson Wagner said.
