The BC Coroners Service has identified two men killed when a float plane crashed near Hesquiat Lake Aug. 16.
The Air Nootka flight crashed shortly after takeoff on a late-morning flight from Hesquiat Lake to Gold River, killing the pilot and one of five passengers on board.
According to a BCCS press release issued Aug. 23, the pilot has been identified as Clifford Howatt, 66, of Ladysmith and the 63-year-old passenger as Charles Henry Turner of Courtenay.
The four remaining passengers survived the crash.
Family members have been notified, the BCCS reports, and “the BCCS, the Transportation Safety Board and WorkSafe BC continue to investigate these deaths.”
