There were a total of 89 calls for service over this period of time. To date, 3508 incidents have been reported to the detachment (3677 for the same period in 2010).
Tuesday, Oct. 25
❱ The Ladysmith RCMP took a complaint of fraud in which the victim received a phone call from a male indicating that he worked for Microsoft. The victim then provided this male with access to their computer as well as credit card information. It is recommended to the general public that they refrain from providing credit card information over the telephone as determining the legitimacy of the caller proves difficult to ascertain.
❱ In the late evening hours a vehicle was stolen from the Cedar Road area near the North Oyster School. The vehicle was located the following day in the Ladysmith Detachment area and the matter is still under investigation.
Wednesday, Oct. 26
❱ Four vehicle batteries from the heavy duty equipment used by Vancouver Island University for training purposes were stolen from the Timberlands Road area in Cassidy. The items were valued at approximately $500.
❱ The Ladysmith RCMP is investigating a mischief complaint in which the victim returned home to find a large number of roofing nails strewn about his driveway. The nails led to the puncturing of a tire with damages estimated at approximately $125.
Thursday, Oct. 27
❱ The Ladysmith RCMP is investigating the possible theft of wood from the Thicke Road area. Members were alerted to a vehicle leaving the area with a large load of wood. The vehicle was subsequently stopped and the owner advised that they have a permit for same. The matter is still under investigation.
Friday, Oct. 28
❱ Ladysmith officers responded to a report of an assault in the 200 Block of Buller Street. It was reported that two females known to the victim barged into her residence and assaulted her. The incident was alleged to have stemmed from a belief that the victim had stolen an item belonging to the accused.
❱ In the late evening hours a vehicle was stopped for driving aggressively in the 6th Avenue area of Ladysmith. Subsequent investigation revealed that the new driver had consumed alcohol and was served with a three day immediate roadside driving prohibition and the vehicle was towed accordingly.
Saturday, Oct. 29
❱ Officers were on patrol when they observed a vehicle being operated in the dark without the use of its headlights. A vehicle stop revealed that the driver was a vehicle impound candidate without a valid licence. The offender was served with the necessary paperwork and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
Sunday, Oct. 30
❱ In the early morning hours a vehicle was observed traveling at a high rate of speed on Russell Road in Ladysmith. Following a vehicle stop, it was determined that the driver was operating the vehicle with a blood alcohol level above that of an acceptable level under Section 215 of the Motor Vehicle Act. The driver was served with an immediate roadside prohibition accordingly.
❱ Ladysmith officers were dispatched to a report of an abandoned 911 call on Penelakut Island. Follow-up investigation revealed that a female had been assaulted by an intoxicated male inside her residence and that she had sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident.
Monday, Oct. 31
❱ The Ladysmith RCMP received a complaint of theft from a motor vehicle in which the complainant observed a male subject on his property with items stolen from his vehicle. The male, described as approximately 16 years of age, 168 centimetres in height, 65 kilograms with no facial hair and a fuzzy hat was also in possession of a backpack containing items believed to have been stolen from another location. This matter remains under investigation.
❱ Several complaints were fielded over the past several days with regards to the discharging of fireworks within the Ladysmith town boundaries. The Ladysmith RCMP is proud to report that on average the fireworks complaints were minimal and that there were no reported cases of injury relating to same.
