Clearwater now has a FrontCounter BC desk, Environment Minister Terry Lake announced Friday. The desk is located in the Headwaters Forest District office next to Highway 5.
Longtime Barriere resident Jennifer Fraser, the forest district’s acting district manager, was among those on hand for the announcement.
FrontCounter BC is a provincial agency that simplifies the process for individuals or small- to medium-sized resource businesses starting up or already operating, primarily in regards to Crown land.
The Kamloops-Thompson MLA also presented a $400,000 cheque from Towns for Tomorrow for the District of Clearwater’s water system.
The money will be used to upgrade water treatment Clearwater’s Russell Creek water system from chlorination to UV disinfection. Total cost of the project is projected to be $576,000.
