Lake athletes bring home top awards from 55+ BC Games

Athletes from the Cowichan Lake area had some impressive performances at this

Athletes from the Cowichan Lake area had some impressive performances at this year’s 55+ BC Games in both track and field and golf.

Marg Radcliffe of Lake Cowichan had five gold medals to her name by the end of the games in track and field. These top placings came in the women’s 70-74 100m, high jump, discus, shot put and javelin. She also received silvers in the 200m and 50m events.

In golf, Rocky Wise captured gold in the men’s 75-79 low net. Ray Bourassa took home silver in the men’s 60-64 division low gross. Brian Lundberg also placed second in the men’s 55-59 low gross. All three men golf at the March Meadows Golf Club in Honeymoon Bay.

The 2016 55+ BC Games were held in Coquitlam from Sep. 20 to 24.

The games are organized by the BC Seniors Games Society, which is the owner, governing factor and main funding partner for this multi-sport annual event.
