The Christina Lake Stewardship Society’s (CLSS) 15th Annual Lake Clean-Up Day was a great success.

Despite a bit of rain, on Saturday, May 30, over 50 volunteers, including players from Boundary Youth Soccer, collected over 60 bags of garbage and over 20 bags of recyclables from around Christina Lake.

This year teams worked on land as well as on the water cleaning up the Lake’s streets and shorelines. Volunteers and the CLSS were impressed with how clean the area around the lake was.

Some unusual items found includ-d car parts, hiking boots, sunglasses, 45 gallon barrels beginning to rust, and lots of stryofoam. The majority of litter was found along the highway and its pullouts.

“The ongoing commitment from the community to keep the lake clean shows visitors how beautiful our area is, and encourages these visitors to do their part,” said the CLSS in a press release.

There were also prizes donated by local businesses and individuals.
