The vehicle was driven up to the sidewalk while entering the parking lot and hit a man with his walker on the side of the building. RCMP report a cement garbage can stopped the man from being crushed by the car.
Attempting the leave the scene the driver hit a Mazda pickup truck and then a GMC pickup. It was reported bystanders where banging on the Sebring pleading for the driver to stop. The bystanders then physically stopped the driver from fleeing. They held the 33-year-old male until police arrived.
“We appreciate that citizens in this situation did what they felt was right in this moment, although, we do not encourage citizens to become involved in situations where they could become hurt or injured.” said Cpl. Kathy Rochlitz, West Shore RCMP. “We are fortunate that this situation turned out as it did and that those involved only received minor injuries.”
When RCMP arrived on scene it was deemed the vehicle has been stolen.
