After a recent house fire Langford Fire Rescue is reminding residents about one simple precaution that can help prevent fire from spreading.
Residents of a home on Claude Road returned after being out for a few hours and found their smoke alarm sounding. Upon further investigation, they found a small fire in a bedroom. The fire was contained to the room and the residents were able to extinguish the blaze on their own.
Langford Fire Rescue Assistant Chief Chris Aubrey said the incident highlights the importance of keeping bedroom doors closed. In this case, and many others, the closed door prevented the fire from spreading through the house.
The cause is still under investigation, but it appears to have been accidental, Aubrey said.
