An attempt to intervene to cool down an argument led to a hit and run incident in Langley in February.
Jason Blake, a landscape worker, was raking garden beds in the 20100 block of Willowbrook Drive at about 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 22.
He told the Langley Advance that he heard a loud argument nearby.
A man in his 20s, sitting in a silver Volkswagen Jetta, was yelling at a teenaged girl standing nearby.
Blake and another passerby, a woman with a young child, both told the man to cool off, but he only became more enraged.
The man then got into the car’s driver’s seat and pulled around, driving straight at Blake.
Blake said he managed to jump up as the car came at him, and rolled over the hood.
“He was able to avoid massive injury,” said Cpl. Holly Largy, spokesperson for the Langley RCMP.
The young woman did get into the car after that incident and left with the man.
Although passerby go the car’s license plate number, the man taunted the witnesses and said that wouldn’t help them find him.
Mounties are investigating the incident as an assault, and have traced the car back to its owner.
The owner says the car was in for servicing at the time of the incident. Investigators are currently looking into who had access to the vehicle at the time.
Blake, meanwhile, says he was banged up and is off work right now.
The suspect is described as a Persian or Iranian man in his 20s, wearing a grey hoodie. Blake described him as somewhat thin.
The young woman had dirty blonde hair and stood about 5’8”.
