Both MPs representing Langley took up their duties in recent weeks, including a new critic position for Mark Warawa.
The Langley-Aldergrove MP has been appointed to the Conservative shadow cabinet as critic on seniors issues.
“I look forward to meeting with seniors across the country to keep the government accountable to meeting their needs,” Warawa said in a statement after he was named.
The incoming Liberals made a number of promises regarding Old Age Security and pensions, mainly rolling back recent changes planned by the Conservatives.
Warawa pointed out that the Conservatives had appointed a minister of state for seniors, but under the Liberal’s re-arrangement of cabinet roles, that appears to have disappeared.
Meanwhile, Cloverdale-Langley City MP John Aldag was officially sworn in on Nov. 17.
The newly-elected Liberal MP is setting up his office in the Valour Building, an office building near Parliament being used during renovations.
Along with other newly elected MPs, Aldag went through an orientation training on the week of Nov. 9.
Ottawa staffers for Aldag’s office are expected to start on Nov. 23.
