Lantzville considers sending delegation to Island conference

NANAIMO – Association of Vancouver Island Coastal Communities meets in April in Campbell River.

The District of Lantzville will have representation at two major conferences this year.

Lantzville councillors voted in favour of sending councillors Mark Swain and Bob Colclough to the Association of Vancouver Island and Coastal Communities conference at a committee of the whole meeting on Monday. Councillors also voted to send three councillors to the Union of British Columbia Municipalities conference later this year.

The AVICC, which takes place next month in Campbell River, brings elected officials from across the Island and the Sunshine Coast to raise issues or concerns and solve problems.

UBCM will be held Sept. 25-29 in Vancouver. The conference attracts councillors from municipalities across the province to meet with individuals from the provincial government and attend seminars and workshops.

Councillors did not officially name anyone to attend UBCM because it is scheduled to take place later this year and no program has been announced.
